SUMMER EDUCATION WORKSHOPS
Descriptions of Course Offerings:Successful Study Strategies for Individual Learners Grades 5-12 Learn how you learn best and what specific learning strategies are best for you to use while you prepare for tests. Strategies will be taught in the areas of: organization skills, time management, listening in class, taking notes from lectures & text-books, reading comprehension, memorization, studying independently for tests and taking tests.
Grades 5 & 6
Learn comprehension strategies for reading novels and textbooks. Learn how to answer comprehension questions, take notes while reading, prepare for book reports and prepare for reading assessments.
Grades 7 & 8
Learn how to read critically. Learn strategies to improve speed, fluency and comprehension. Learn how to take notes from textbooks, write summaries and prepare for chapter tests.
Grades 9 - 12
Learn how to improve your reading speed and comprehension. Learn how to manage high volumes of reading material, skimming strategies, high level questions to ask while reading, how to draw conclusions from various passages & reading strategies for the ACT and SAT.
Grades 5-12
Learn how to write strong paragraphs, organize an essay, and write reports.
Grades 11 & 12
Learn strategies for taking the ACT. Strategies taught for the following tests: English, Math, Reading, Science Reasoning, & Writing.
